Learn how to manage booking requests, confirmed reservations, and guest communications.
Booking Types
Instant Book
Guests can book immediately without your approval. Best for:
- Established listings with clear house rules
- Hosts who want maximum bookings
- Properties with flexible availability
Request to Book
Guests send a booking request that you approve or decline. Best for:
- New listings
- Properties requiring guest screening
- Hosts who want to review each booking
Configure in Listing > Availability > Booking settings.
Handling Booking Requests
When you receive a request:
- Review the request - Check dates, guest count, and guest profile
- Message the guest - Ask questions if needed
- Accept or decline - Respond within 24 hours
Accepting a Request
- Go to Bookings > Pending
- Review the booking details
- Click Accept
- The guest will be charged and the booking confirmed
Declining a Request
- Go to Bookings > Pending
- Click Decline
- Select a reason (helps improve your listing)
- Optionally send a message to the guest
Tip: Responding quickly improves your search ranking and booking rate.
Viewing Bookings
Access your bookings from Host Dashboard > Bookings:
| Status | Description |
|---|---|
| Pending | Awaiting your approval |
| Confirmed | Approved and paid |
| Upcoming | Confirmed, check-in approaching |
| In Progress | Guest currently staying |
| Completed | Guest has checked out |
| Cancelled | Booking was cancelled |
Creating Manual Bookings
Book directly for guests who contact you outside the platform:
- Go to Bookings > Create Booking
- Select the property and dates
- Enter guest information
- Set pricing (can override standard rates)
- Choose payment method:
- Collect through MyGoodRental
- Mark as paid externally
- Confirm the booking
Modifying Bookings
Changing Dates
- Go to the booking details
- Click Modify Booking
- Select new dates
- Review price changes
- Submit for guest approval (if price increases)
Adding Charges
Add fees for extra services or adjustments:
- Open the booking
- Click Add Charge
- Enter description and amount
- Guest will be notified and charged
Cancelling Bookings
Host-Initiated Cancellation
- Go to the booking
- Click Cancel Booking
- Select reason
- Review refund amount (based on your policy)
- Confirm cancellation
Warning: Frequent host cancellations can affect your search ranking and may result in penalties.
Guest-Initiated Cancellation
When a guest cancels:
- Refund is calculated based on your cancellation policy
- You’ll be notified via email
- The dates become available again
Booking Documents
Some bookings may require documents:
- Rental agreements - Custom terms for the stay
- Liability waivers - For properties with special amenities
- ID verification - Guest identification
Set up required documents in Listing > Policies > Documents.
